Alan Fitzpatrick Launches Whistleblower Label Project with New Track “Tribe”

If you’re a fan of Southampton’s Alan Fitzpatrick, you’ve come to love the producer’s rollicking blend of bass-heavy techno, usually released on Adam Beyer’s seminal label, Drumcode. But like any truly skilled studio-wiz, there should never be only one side slice to your stylistic pie, and for his next release Fitzpatrick has gone so far as to not just slightly tweak his lauded sound—but start up his own label.

Founded with two of his friends and collaborators—Reset Robot and Rhymos—the Whistleblower label project has come to life in tandem with a new EP from Fitzpatrick, Tribe, the lead track of which is streaming below. Centered around a cavernous house groove and healthy licks of tribal percussion, the track’s vibe shouldn’t be alien to fans of the producer, but containing of just the right amount of fresh air.

Here’s what Alan himself had to say about the new track and project:

“Of course it is fun to collaborate with old friends, but because [Whistleblower] is only about us and we get to do exactly what we want—there’s a real creative freedom with the label and I’m really enjoying that. “Tribe’ is a track that I wrote towards the end of 2014 that’s really simple and energetic with an old-school flavor. It’s a track I wrote just for me. Kind of like a studio jam that I made for fun with some sounds I thought sounded cool and appeal to the primal urges inside us all to get up and move when we hear a rhythmical, tribal music.”
