This Bhangra Snow Shovelling Video Gives Us Hope for 2017

I woke up feeling like shit today. I came into the office (at VICE, where I work) nursing a pretty rough hangover and running on a couple hours of sleep. Eight hours separated me from the sweet solace of the weekend, and I wasn’t looking forward to the journey.

Until I came across this video. This video saved me. This video made me happy. This video gave me life.

I wish 2016 was more like this video.

While most Canadians are complaining about the first snowfall of the season and realizing that winter tires are a thing they should probably own, these wonderful Sikh men are dancing to bhangra music with shovels. Has anyone in the history of this planet ever been this happy to shovel snow? I doubt it. Shovelling is objectively terrible.

I grew up in a Sikh family, and I disliked bhangra from an early age. My parents tried to put me in a bhangra class when I was ten, and I quit after the first lesson. Why should I give a fuck about dancing to music that I don’t listen to when I could be at home playing Super Smash Brothers?

But adulthood brings a new perspective.

Bhangra is cool. These guys are cool. Look at those smiles! I half expected one of them to slip while watching this, because *extreme Justin Trudeau voice* it’s 2016. But they stayed on their respective feet! Could this be the turning point that the year needed? Are things about to change?

This video gives me hope for 2017.
