Welcome back to Seriously, Though, Who Is This?, a new column by fearless contributor Xavier Aaronson, who anonymously texts strange and confusing culinary-related imagery to unsuspecting victims in order to uncover various aspects of the human psyche and the power of visual communication. Oh, and most of these strangers are usually high-quality chefs. Enjoy.

After their long, grueling night shifts in top-notch kitchens, slaving over pumpkin brûlée, butternut squash gratin, and zucchini terrines, I texted a bunch of high-quality chefs photos of squash varietals because it’s gourd season. In the end, one thing is clear: squash is sexy, and what these chefs choose to do with these gourds in their off hours is their business.
