Listen to Prinze George’s “Upswing” and Feel Forlorn But A-OK

Prinze George are Kenny Grimm (production/instrumental), Naomi Almquist (vocals) and Isabelle De Leon (drums). They’re from Maryland and they make synth-pop that’s swoony (“Victor”—500,000 soundcloud spins!), that’s lightly disco-dazzled (“This Time”), that’s a little bit indie (the brilliant “Don’t Speak to Me”). Even in their brightest moments, they sound a tad forlorn: “When life is good I’m looking down,” sings Almquist.

So it is with new tune “Upswing,” arguably their most upbeat kick yet. The synths might sparkle, but her lightly disconsolate tones are as pleasant as pouty pink lips.
