Summer vibes may be winding down, but Parisian artist Monge Quentin keeps them alive in her cheery minimalist illustrations. She incorporates topical imagery into jokes into much of her work, but she’s devoted her Instagram presence to summer worship for the past couple of months. Her characters are often components of a pattern rather than individuals, allowing them to become unadulterated symbols of seasonal joy. The edge of the frame seems like just the beginning of a wide world of bikini-clad women riding crocodiles, people surfing harmoniously with sharks, or gardens of crisp, juicy watermelon. She’s lighthearted and fun when she focuses on a single scene, such as the Olympic ring inner tubers, or animating an enthusiastic foodie humping a giant taco. Take her colorful artwork as a reminder to schedule that last trip to the beach. Autumn has too much chill.
