The latest release from one of London’s proper dancehall talents, Chanelle Williams, aka Lady Chann. Formerly of Suncycle crew, and is now on course for her mission statement to get white girls twerking, dutty whining and sipping Vita Coco and Malibu at club nights across the UK.
This melodic ode to love as is a far more stripped back take than the Toddla T remix we featured a while ago which was saturated with his trademark schizophrenic jungle and house inflections. And though the video isn’t exactly groundbreaking, props to someone who just wants people to recognize their face, and they should, because she delivers aa pretty lovely vocal over Gyptian’s ‘Hold Yuh’ riddim, as she purrs over a man who ‘Never wan’ use me like no whore” <3< p=””>

She’s actually one of my favourite female MC’s/rappers/ artists/WHATEVER cos she’s funny, not too earnest and I like how her breaks into rapping in patois aren’t reminiscent of that fake-cringe thing that ~urban-pop~ acts do which makes my box recoil in white-hot hate. (Oh HAI Stooshe!)
