“Cooking With Christopher Walken” Is the Best Thing You’ll Watch

Christopher Walken’s enduring brilliance has been the result of his prodigious ability to make you question whether he knows he’s actually hilarious. That ability is on full display in this cooking show, in which he improbably invites the equally-deadpan Richard Belzer (of Law and Order: SVU) over to whip up some primo cuisine.

Walken sold me at his Hawaiian shirt, but the production wins with its perfect amount of strange kitsch. There’s the awkward Belzer-Walken hello. The bevy of black luxury rides in his driveway. The silent assistants who do all of the work. The brain-numbing awkward brilliance of Belzer’s behind-the-back fruit toss during the grocery shopping segment. There are goats!

It all ends with some wonderful oven-roasted chicken and good vibes. I’m going to file this little gem away for whenever the world decides to riff my chill.
