The last time we checked in with Auckland’s Invisible Threads they were readying to transport their noisey psych rock to Australia for the first time. A customs clearance and a few shows later they return with “Isle of the Dead”, the new single from their upcoming album.
The off kilter track is lyrically darker than previous material as it comes from the imagined POV of a mass shooter. “A mass murder ballad if you will,” suggests the band’s Sam Moore.

While the subject matter may be ugly, the video, lovingly crafted by Ducklingmonster Futurian’s Beth Dawson is positively beautiful as it captures a lo fi moving collage of birds of prey. It’s an abstract but fitting visual accompaniment to the themes of the song.
