Since 2012, Seattle, Washington’s Eye of Nix has been creating wonderfully twisted experimental metal, and rather than committing to one niche, this collective has its fingers in every pot. With crust and sludge-influenced riffs meeting black metal’s tremolo picking at the noisiest crossroads, the band sets a tumultuous backdrop for vocalist Joy Von Spain’s otherworldly, operatic banshee wails. Her Siouxsie Sioux-gone-black metal vocals will give you chills, and add to the chaos instead of softening the band’s sound.

Eye of Nix’s debut LP, Moros, was released on March 31 via Belief Mower Records, and the band has teamed up with filmmaker/photographer Michael Ray Sheets and Vanessa Skantze to release a music video for the track “Elysium Elusive.” This one’s best viewed outside of the workplace due to the presence of blood, nudity, and a type of dread that’s hard to name.
To coincide with the album’s release, Eye of Nix will embark on a west coast tour later this month:
