Oklahoma starting quarterback and Heisman finalist Baker Mayfield was arrested on February 24 for misdemeanor charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and fleeing arrest, and police released the video of his arrest today (via Fayetteville, Arkansas’ 5News).
The footage depicts Mayfield getting brutally tackled, and hitting what appears to be a concrete barrier with his hips, shoulder and maybe head. Three officers then restrained him and cuffed him, leading him to the car. Reports read that Mayfield claimed he was breaking up a fight, but was found cursing, visibly intoxicated, and with food all over his clothing.

Mayfield tweeted out a public apology on February 28, saying “I am sincerely sorry for causing you to have to answer questions and defend our beloved school on my behalf,” he said. “To all of the parents of kids that look up to me and consider me as a role model, I am sorry I was not the example I should be for your children.”
